Kindle vs Paperback
Is Kindle taking over?
With my ever growing book collection and ever decreasing room on my shelves, I have started to read more on my kindle. Its easier to carry around with me and means that I am never without a easy way to dip into whatever fantastical world or story I am reading. However, I still love holding a paperback book (and smelling them too). For me, hardback books are gorgeous but I have dropped them on my face one too many times to trust myself to read one in bed. I may have also dropped a few paperbacks on my nose too but they don't hurt as much!
I think if I was spotted in public sniffing a kindle I might get a few strange looks.
With the amazon monthly book deals, I have managed to pick up almost 200 novels for around 99p each which just isn't possible for a physical book unless I get really lucky in a charity shop. While they are cheap, I also find them easier to read. The backlit screen means I don't need to fight with a book light trying to clip it onto the edge of the book and bend it each time I read a new page so the light shines on it enough for me to see the words. This means that I have been reading on my kindle a lot more than I have been reading paperbacks.
That does not mean that I have stopped reading paperbacks entirely though! I try to always have one physical book, one kindle book and one audiobook going at any given time. Currently I am reading the physical copy of 'I Have Lost My Way' by Gayle Forman, the audiobook of 'Daisy Jones and the Six' by Taylor Jenkins Reid and the kindle edition of 'Shadow and Bone' by Leigh Bardugo. Having them all on different materials means that I do not get the stories mixed up in my head and has also seemed to stop me cramming bookmarks into ten different books and promising to read the rest later.
So no, I do not think kindle is taking over. I think kindle is offering another option for readers to consume all of the delicious stories that authors produce every year.
Happy reading my lovelies! - Lauren xo
